Dedicated to preserving the forestland, green spaces, and wetlands in Allegan County to ensure ecological balance and community well-being.

Current Project: Actively working to keep the proposed Lakeshore Drive roadway development in Saugatuck on the section line to avoid environmental destruction, unnecessary roadway expansion and reduce costs.

Q1: January – March 2025

Original Planned Roadway - Section Line

  • Primary route was intended to be on the section-line with most direct route between Wiley and 126th

  • Supported plan after first feasibility study.

  • Dashed line off of section-line was an alternate option

Newly Proposed Roadway - Off Section Line

  • Based on a second study that was generally not distributed to the public

  • Unnecessary deforestation and destruction of environment with approximately 20% more trees destroyed.

  • Higher cost and results in a greater distance for most residents in the area to travel.

Off Section Line - Route Impact

According to Licensed Engineer David Schultz,

P.E., with over 35 years of civil engineering

experience in West MI, Including Allegan

County:

  • New route curves away from section-line and the majority of citizens that utilize the road adding over 4,000 ft. of additional roadway

  • Estimated $1.6M higher construction costs

  • Less direct path between Wiley Rd. and 126th Avenue creating inefficiencies for daily traffic and emergency services
